Jan van Haasteren (84) delighted with puzzle craze: ‘I could not have thought of’

There seems to be a real puzzle craze because many Dutch people have to stay at home because of the corona measures. Jigsaw puzzle makers see sales rise sharply. The well-known puzzle maker Jan van Haasteren saw sales rise by 87 percent in March.

Puzzles by Jan van Haasteren (84) are flying out of the shops

The 84-year-old puzzle artist sees himself in the hit list of the most sold toys, between major brands such as Lego and Playmobil. “I could never have imagined this”, Van Haasteren responds in Nieuws en Co on NPO Radio 1. “People are bored and like to do puzzles.”

In the meantime, the work continues with the puzzle maker himself. The corona measures do not affect his work: “I have been working at home all my life, behind my drawing table.”
